“Can you fill me in?”

It has been some while since the last entry on this blog announced the release of our EP, and yet while things have certainly been quiet around here in blogland, the non virtual world of les recusants has been a hive of activity. Well maybe not quite a hive, but it’s certainly been a bit active.

Shortly after it was released the EP received a ‘review’ in stool pigeon – in which the author managed to more or less convey his general indifference to us without directly calling us shit or cunts (an act of generosity not bestowed upon most of the other bands featured in his column), which I am choosing to take as a positive. We have also managed to get the EP into a couple of proper shops, namely Flashback on Essex road and the legendary Rough Trade which we are very happy about. So if you’re in the area why not pick up a copy? It would be like buying a real cd by a real band from a real shop. Wow! (Alternatively you can get it from rough trade online: http://www.roughtrade.com/site/shop_detail.lasso?search_type=sku&sku=329733 if you so wish)

Furthering the general air of excitement, the EP then had it’s first (as far as we’re aware) taste of national radio exposure courtesy of Steve Lamacq, who chose to end his 6music show with ‘Take me home’. This was a very pleasant surprise, and it was made even more pleasant by Mr Lamacq having to apologise for my ‘potty mouth’ straight after the song. So I have now sworn on BBC national radio, take that you fuckers! Badass! Stickin’ it to the man! etc etc

You can listen to the clip on our new soundcloud page (http://soundcloud.com/therecusants) where we will continue to post various miscellaneous audio nuggets.

In other radio news we also did an interview recently for the Matt Barnes Indie Hour on Roundhouse radio which you can check out here: http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/explore/radio/matt-barnes-indie-hour/matt-barnes-indie-hour-27th-july-2010.  A warning for all Tom fans however: Tom hardly says anything. If you’re after some Rundell fun time,  I’m afraid you may be disappointed.

Now I realise at this point you’re practically foaming at the mouth with all the excitement I’ve been throwing at you, so just to send you completely over the edge into some sort of full on excitement seizure, i have one more piece of news for you: we are now on Spotify! Yeah!

Well there you have it. Ok. Breathe.

In way of celebration for all this we held a launch night at the wonderful Power’s Bar in K-Town. It was a fun night with some  great performances from both the banjo picking Chris Fowler and Kandahar Chorus, as well as showcasing some superb work on the ones and twos from 145 resident DJ extraordinaire Dickie Draper. Oh, and we played aswell:

Thanks to all those who came along, we hope you enjoyed it.

So now your fully updated it’s probably time for me to stop writing. I did intend to include some non band related things this time as I feel in some ways this blog is becoming nothing more than a chronology of events, which was not the intention. But I can see I have already rambled on for too long so whatever I had in mind will have to wait.

Not for too long hopefully this time.

Bye

Sean

Oh and while there’s still time I will just mention a couple of gigs. This Sunday we are at The Old Queen’s Head on Essex road (our local) and it is FREE so come down. Also on Friday the 27th we are headlining the Barfly in Camden. This should be a good night so get your tickets here: http://www.barflyclub.com/camden/whatson/event/28124.aspx#The+Recusants+%2b+Damn+Vandals+%2b+Move

Bye again
